SwinertonBrings Amazon’s Vision to Life with New Delivery Station in Hawaii
We are excited to announce the successful completion of Amazon’s groundbreaking new delivery station on Sand Island, marking a significant milestone in the state’s logistics infrastructure. Officially set to soft launch on August 6, this three-story, 595,000-square-foot facility is one of the largest of its kind ever constructed, promising to revolutionize package delivery across Hawaii.
We are honored to be featured in Pacific Business News for our pivotal role in this $200 million project. The state-of-the-art station is poised to enhance shipping efficiency, with the capacity to process between 300,000 to 400,000 packages weekly. This ambitious project reflects Amazon’s commitment to improving service speed and reliability for customers in Hawaii. The facility represents Amazon’s inaugural delivery station in the state, signaling a major expansion in their logistical network.
In conjunction with the new delivery station, Amazon has also entered into a strategic partnership with Hawaiian Airlines. This collaboration involves operating an initial fleet of 10 Airbus A330-300 freighters, designed to streamline the delivery of packages into the new facility. This move is part of Amazon’s broader expansion strategy, which includes owning 49 acres in Kapolei. Though specific plans for this property remain undisclosed, the acquisition indicates Amazon’s ongoing commitment to growth and regional integration.
The opening of the Sand Island delivery station is expected to create around 500 new jobs by the end of 2024, with additional positions for drivers through the Delivery Service Partner program. This job creation will have a significant positive impact on the local economy, providing numerous employment opportunities and contributing to the community’s economic development.
